In addition to academic classes, Sanford Community Adult Education offers a myriad of enrichment classes. Enrichment classes are mostly scheduled for late afternoon or during the evening; however, some are held during the day. These classes are offered by local community members who have a gift to share such as watercolor, knitting, cooking, parapsychology, pottery, etc. Paying for a class is easy, you can pay online through their website, call SCAE at 490-5145 and pay via the phone, send in a check with the registration form found on the back page of the brochure, or drop by the office at 21 Bradeen St., Suite 201, and pay in cash.
Some winter enrichment courses begin in January, while others don’t start until February or March. Offerings include:
Some enrichment classes are one-day sessions, while others run multiple days over the span of several weeks. Each class is described in detail in the brochure that gets mailed to all Sanford/Springvale homes, as well as on SCAE’s website at https://sanford.maineadulted.org/.
If a course is canceled, you receive a 100% refund or credit. If you need to withdraw for any reason, and withdraw at least five business days before the start of the class, you will receive a 100% refund (less any processing fees). For classes that meet multiple times, you can receive a 50% refund or 100% credit toward a future class if you withdraw before the second class.
If you have an idea for a class or if you would like to teach a class please reach out to SCAE. When community members come out to share their talents Community Adult Education thrives. The classes are self-sustaining, meaning they pay for themselves. The instructor sets a price and receives a percentage of that price. SCAE provides the space, advertising, and organizes each class. Most classes are in person but this semester a few are being offered via Zoom. SCAE invites you to come tour the facility, ask questions, sit in on a class or meet with staff. Feel free to call 490-5145 at any time for more information.
