Rock the Waypoint Music Fest!

Waypoint (formerly known as Waban), a non-profit organization serving children with special needs in Maine, will be hosting its annual music festival fundraiser on June 1 from 2:00–6:00 pm at their waterfront property off Route 4 at 5 Dunaway Drive.

This is the charity’s biggest event of the year. Motor Booty Affair, dubbed “The Ultimate Disco Party Band” will be singing everyone’s favorite ‘70s hits to headline the day of live music, which also features performances by Dock Squares, a Kennebunkport-based rock’n’roll, pop, and soul band. You are encouraged to bring your own low-profile chair.

In addition to the music, the festival will also feature food trucks from Bubba Frye’s, Good Forking Grub and other vendors, as well as a beer garden sponsored by Portland’s Shipyard Brewing Company. If you plan to enter the beer garden, please remember to bring a valid photo ID for age verification. A wide variety of non-alcoholic beverages will also be for sale on the premises.

Continuing the long-standing tradition of raffle prizes at Waypoint fundraisers, the upcoming music fest features the chance to win Adirondack chairs, an outdoor fire pit, a Webber grill—courtesy of Central Furniture—or a kayak and paddle from Ocean State Job Lot. Secure your raffle tickets online by May 31 or at the event on June 1.

Founded in 1966, Waypoint, originally Camp Waban, began as a summer haven for children with disabilities. It has since broadened its scope to offer vocational training, therapy, and residential care. Now, over half a century later, Waypoint continues its mission of enhancing the lives of those with disabilities and their families in Maine.

Tickets are available now for $30 (or $55 with a koozie and t-shirt) and can be printed or you can show your mobile ticket at the event on your device. All proceeds benefit Waypoint’s programs for children with autism and intellectual disabilities.
