Gerald Louis “Jerry” Dunham, 101, of Sanford died peacefully in the care of the Maine Veterans’ Home in Scarborough on Saturday, September 2, 2023. He was a child of the Great Depression, father, grandfather, highly decorated World War II veteran and known to most of Sanford as the original owner of Jerry’s Market on Main Street. Jerry was a selfless man, with a work ethic that few can surpass, retiring at 88 years old. He also supported many programs for children over the years, especially Little League baseball teams. In his later years, Jerry enjoyed woodworking, cooking and gardening. A celebration of life will be held at a time to be announced on December 28, 2023, at Black Funeral Home in Springvale.
