News Notes: January 17

Staff and clients of Waban Projects got their first Covid-19 vaccinations this past week.

Sanford Middle School report cards will be issued January 22. SMS also reminds parents that there are dozens of school photos awaiting pickup. If you paid for photos but haven’t received them yet, call the office or stop by the school weekdays from 7:30 to 2:30.

The Sanford Growth Council is now on Instagram. Follow them here: https://www.instagram.com/sanfordgrowth/.

With Sanford schools in a “red” designation, if you need help with remote learning support or childcare, contact the Sanford-Springvale YMCA. Their Distance Learning Academy, Before & After Care program or Childcare Combo are all accepting admissions. Email Youth Development Director Matthew Ouellette at mouellette@sanfordymca.org. More information is available here. Financial assistance is available.

The Y is also helping members breathe easier, with new medical-grade air purifiers in the Group Fitness studio, Distance Learning Academy and Early Learning Center.

Congratulations to Sanford High School sopranos Paige Wilson and Ella Van Gieson, and altos Aberdeen Brickett and Jaylyn Bartolome, who qualified for the 2021 All State Music Festival.

The First Baptist Church of Springvale has cancelled all services and activities until Sunday, January 31 due to Covid.
