Sanford Firefighters Association Local 1624 is selling t-shirts and face masks to raise money for cancer research/prevention/treatment again this year. Proceeds stay in our local community. Shirts are $15 each or $20 for 2XL and larger. Masks are $5. These can be purchased at Central Fire Station (outside in the parking lot and distance with masks) or directly from Mikini in Sanford.
Shaw’s Supermarket in South Sanford is selling GIVE BACK WHERE IT COUNTS reusable shopping bags. If you purchase one in the month of October, $1 of the $2.50 purchase price for each bag will be donated to the Sanford-Springvale YMCA.
The PE department at Sanford Middle School is selling Spartan logo gear to raise money for new equipment. They have long and short sleeved t-shirts, pom pom hats, hoodies, sweat pants, shorts and face masks. Order forms need to be turned in by Friday, October 16. If you don’t have a Middle Schooler, but would like to support the school and get some great gear, email aroy@sanford.org.
The Springvale Library is reopening to the public on Wednesday, October 14th. Their previous safety measures will be in place, including masks worn over the nose required, hand sanitizing upon entering the building, and a visitor limit of 5 at a time. They will still be offering curbside pickup as well.
As of this writing, the Springvale Library’s Fall Festival of Books and Art is still being planned for October 23 and 24. In addition to the book sale both days, on Saturday there will be an artisan fair, live music and a pumpkin bird feeder family activity. This is the Library’s primary fundraiser, so come on out and support them!
Ty’s Treasure Chest thrift store at 489 Main St. in Springvale is reopening on Tuesday after a two-month closure. Stop by and see their latest treasures!
Mel’s Raspberry Patch in Springvale is back open too! Their hours are Thursday through Monday from 7:00 to 2:00 p.m.
