Sanford Rec has two new golf programs starting up in September. Youth Golf is for grades 5-8 and starts Wednesday, September 15. $8 per week, pay only for the weeks you play. Ladies Golf begins Thursday, September 16. $15 per week, pay only for the weeks that you play. Both programs are beginner friendly, with basic instruction offered and clubs supplied. The deadline to file nomination papers to run for City of Sanford elected offices is Thursday, September 2 at 4:30 p.m. More information on the offices up for election, and the nomination process, is here. Election Day is Tuesday, November 2.

York County Community Action will continue to provide free bus rides for essential trips including grocery shopping, medical appointments and commuting to work through October 31. Masks are required, they can supply one if you do not have one.

On Friday and Saturday, September 17-18, Nasson Community Center and Little Theatre is hosting an Improv Weekend with two amazing groups. On Friday night, Stranger Than Fiction will be performing and on Saturday night, You Should Smile More will be performing. Both shows are original and completely made up on the spot. On Saturday afternoon, there is a community improv workshop. One for teens 13-17 and one for adults 18+. Mark Patterson is organizing a fundraiser to purchase a protective cover for the pole vault pit at Sanford High School, to be named in memory of Brian Flanagan, a coach, teacher and assistant principal who passed away in 2019. The Nasson College Alumni Association is gearing up for Homecoming Weekend October 1-3 with a full schedule of events planned. All the details are available at nasson.org. Membership in the NCAA is open to faculty, staff, and any student who completed at least one semester in good standing.

Sanford Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs are joining forces for their annual Chip In FORE Charity Golf Tournament, coming up Friday, September 10 at the Sanford Country Club. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m., shotgun start at 8:30, with raffles, contests, prizes and luncheon after the tournament.
