Helping students address their mental health needs: Sweetser recently attended the 2nd Annual Health & Wellness Fair at the University of Southern Maine to support students during the cold winter months. Sweetser’s Liz Smith and Karen Dow, who staffed a table at the event, informed students on ways they can access treatment for their mental and behavioral health needs. This time of year can be isolating for people, especially for students overwhelmed by exams and deadlines. Smith and Dow shared how Sweetser’s resources, including its 24/7 Peer Support Line, are available to help students to take full ownership of their mental health needs.
A beloved Valentine’s tradition marks its 30th year: The staff at Southern Maine Agency on Aging prepped for Valentine’s Day this week by lovingly wrapping 1,250 roses for their Meals on Wheels clients and Adult Day members. This is the 30th anniversary of this tradition, made possible by an endowment left by the late Loraine Merrill, a former Meals on Wheels recipient. Her generosity has ensured that 20,000+ clients have received a beautiful long-stemmed rose over the last three decades. In addition to the roses, Meals on Wheels clients also received hand-crafted cards donated from ME Sew Crafty and Coastal Care Solutions.
