At the City Council’s January 19 meeting, Sanford Growth Council Director James Nimon gave an update on some of the new economic development projects that are in the works.
He mentioned the New England Battery Storage facility that we wrote about in this article, and said the recently renovated One Eagle Drive building has several prospective tenants.
Mr. Nimon told the Council that Harrison Development, LLC, a commercial real estate management company with a focus on environmentally conscientious buildings, is relocating its headquarters from Kennebunk to Sanford in order to take advantage of the city’s many resources. They will be constructing a new warehouse and office space on Smada Drive.
The new building will utilize high-efficiency walls and roofing materials, and will feature solar panels for net metering, geothermal heating and cooling, LED lighting, and a rainwater recovery irrigation system. In addition to space for Harrison Development, the new project will also include three high-bay drive-through rental units, with mixed warehouse and office space.
Mr. Nimon also said a purchase and sale agreement for the city-owned Stenton Trust building was signed January 12. He said the purchaser is in the due diligence phase now, so he could not give more details at this time.
