Author Talk: War Pigeons (Saturday October 29th @ 2:00pm): Join author Elizabeth G. Macalaster for a fascinating presentation on her book, War Pigeons: Winged Couriers in the U.S. Military, 1878-1957. Elizabeth’s presentation traces the remarkable service of homing pigeons in the U.S. Military, beginning after the Civil War and continuing through both world wars and beyond. For ¾ of a century, homing pigeons provided the military with its most reliable communication, and their poignant and enduring stories tell of common birds attaining heroic stature.
Take-Home October Craft Kits (October 1st – 8th while supplies last): Recommended for ages 5 and up. Each kit will contain a foam pumpkin to decorate, assorted stickers, a mini Halloween-themed coloring book, and a fall word search.
