The Sanford Fire Department provided mutual aid to Acton with a structure fire, which started in a clothes dryer, on June 21. Engine 1 responded. Later that day, the Department was called to assist with a fire on Blaney’s Island in Shapleigh. Forestry 2 and Marine 1 responded. A brush fire on Cyro Rd. June 23 brought three units out. There were four reports of unauthorized burning.
The storm that passed through Sanford on June 17 led to fifteen calls for downed power lines throughout the city. Three additional calls were from other damage resulting from the storm. On June 20, the Department responded along with the propane company to a leaking propane tank on Twombley Rd. During the second half of June there were two calls logged as Good Intent Call, Other and one as Service Call, Other, no details given.
There were 136 calls for emergency medical services during the 15-day period. 32 people were given first aid, 74 received basic life support and 50 received advanced life support. 119 persons were transported to hospitals. The Department responded to four motor vehicle accidents with injuries, one motor vehicle/pedestrian accident, and six accidents without injuries. Eight invalids were provided with assistance.
Six calls were dispatched and cancelled en route. On ten calls, there was no incident found upon arrival. There was one false alarm or false call. Six calls were for accidental alarm activation or faulty systems.
