Sanford firefighters dealt with a dumpster fire on Spruce St. on February 17. Engine 2 and Ladder 1 responded. The Department also provided mutual assistance twice on February 28, to Wells for a house fire and to Rochester for a barn fire.
Engine 1 responded to a hazardous condition call on February 17, for a low wire on Payne St. Sparking stoves brought firefighters to Timber Ridge on February 19, and to Pleasant St. on the 21st. In both cases, the stoves were removed from the building. Smoking ground on Main St. on February 22 was possibly due to a broken wire underground. Engine 2 responded to a call for a tree on power lines on Jagger Mill Rd. on February 23. A water leak on Country Club #2 on February 26 was due to a broken pipe.
There were 110 calls for Emergency Medical Services during the period. 23 individuals received first aid, 60 received basic life support and 41 were treated with advanced life support measures. 94 people were transported to hospitals. The Department responded to one motor vehicle accident with injuries, and seven without injuries. Invalids were assisted on two occasions.
Four calls were dispatched, and then cancelled en route. On three occasions, no incident was found upon arrival. Five calls were due to malfunctioning or unintentionally activated smoke detectors or alarm systems.
