There are plenty of fun do-it-yourself workshops happening at the new Hammer and Stain D.I.Y. workshop located in the Main Street Marketplace this February. New owner Liz Shields has put together several public workshops that sound fun. They begin on February 1 with a ”Cozy Knit Blankets” workshop. There’s a special “Date with Dad” workshop on February 2 for children and their dads. You can make your own “Faux Sea Glass Trees and Gnomes” on February 5 or sign up for the “Coordinate Sign” workshop on Feb 7. A “Bad Moms” brunch workshop will be held on February 9 along with a “GALentines Sea Glass and Succulent” workshop the day before Valentine’s Day. Don’t these sound like fun? Hammer and Stain will provide all the tools, materials and the talented instructor to make your workshop a success. “No experience is needed and you can personalize your creation any way you want,” says Shields.
Hammer and Stain York County is the first Maine franchise for this national chain. Shields, a former art teacher, began working as an instructor for the company years ago and recently became her own studio owner. “I’ve been busy with a variety of events. I want to be successful and be here for a long time,” said Shields. Hammer and Stain has several options including hosting a private workshop event for your family, friends or business. Or try a Hammer at Home kit with everything you need so you can craft in the comfort of your home. There’s also a wide range of finished projects including inspirational, hometown and specialty collections for sale and you can even custom order a project for a gift. “Being creative brings people joy. It’s fun and meaningful to make something with your hands,” said Shields. You can check out all the details on Facebook, including information on three drop-in days available during February school vacation. And there are gift cards for your favorite D.I.Y. enthusiast and available for your Valentine giving, too.
