Haydn’s “The Creation”
June 18 @ 5:00 pm

At 5 p.m. Father’s Day, Sunday, June 18, the Portland Bach Experience
will present Hayden’s “The Creation.”
This revolutionary experience celebrates the scientific milestone of the
James Webb Telescope’s images from 13.5 billion years ago by exploring
the sights and sounds from the Big Bang through music and performance.
This immersive concert features 2021 GRAMMY-winning soprano Sarah
Brailey and the Flying Gravity Circus! Other highlights include:
• J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 1 — Part of a six-year cycle,
Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 1 uses the unusual instrumentation of
two horns, three oboes, and violino piccolo. This year we introduce the
first in the cycle of “New Brandenburgs,” six contemporary companion
pieces that are inspired by Bach’s original concertos.
• Haydn: Dialogues — In a multi-season project, the Cramer Quartet
reimagines the traditional string quartet cycle. June 2023 features
Haydn’s Op. 71 quartets alongside a commissioned work composed by inti
figgis-vizueta.
Portland Bach Experience (PBE) enlivens, strengthens, and connects
