York County Senior College has released descriptions of the 2025 Gary Sullivan Lecture Series. Nine cultural events are planned for Wednesday afternoons in January, February and March. All but two events are to be held on-line, as follows:
- Jan. 8, 4 pm – Native Americans Present in North America before European Contact, with Nancy Ponzetti.
- Jan. 22, 4 pm – Poetry readings with poets Margo Stever, Susana Case, and Sandra Yanon.
- Jan. 29, 4 pm – Fraud Watch Update with AARP volunteer Julie Flynn – identifying and avoiding ever-changing scams.
- Feb. 12, 4 pm – Stolen Seasons – How Maine Sports Survived the Covid-19 Pandemic, with Gary Stevens, retired Thornton Academy athletic director, and David Eid, WGME-TV sports director.
- Feb. 19, 3 pm – Performance by Coastal Winds Ensemble clarinet quartet with Jack Kupp. In person in Kennebunk.
- Feb. 26, 4 pm – Monitoring Beach Erosion with David Plavin, V.P., Save Our Shores Saco Bay & Chair, Saco Shoreline Commission.
- March 12, 4 pm – Report on drone monitoring of southern Maine beaches, pre & post January 2024 storms, with Will Kochtitsky, PhD, UNE.
- March 19, 4 pm – The Path of Most Resistance: Poems on Women in Science, with author and poet Jessy Randall, special collections curator, Colorado College.
- March 26, 2 pm – Creating Fabric Art, with fabric artist Kathy Angel Lee. In-person.
