The agenda includes a presentation on the RAISE Grant; public hearing on proposed zoning amendments regarding front yard setback and private way standards in the urban zone; approval of proposed lease program for unmarked vehicles for the Police Department; ratification of the acquisition and disposal of a number of properties; acceptance of the Memorial Gym as returned to the care, custody and control of the City; and other items.

Planning Board Work Session, 6:30 p.m., City Hall Council Chambers, 919 Main St., and via Zoom. The agenda includes discussion of the proposed zoning amendments related to mineral extraction, and preliminary conversation about additional urban zone amendments.

Thursday, September 8

Senior Food Mobile, 10:00 – 11:30 a.m., Crossroads United Methodist Church, 15 Grammar Rd. For anyone over 60 years old in need of food assistance: produce for all, commodities for those who meet income eligibility requirements.

Sanford Senior Cycling, 10:00 a.m. – noon, Sanford-Springvale YMCA, 1 Emile Levasseur Dr. Join Northeast Passage for this active, casual and social ride. They have a variety of cycles, trikes and tandem bikes to suit all ability, skill and comfort levels. Their adaptive cycling experts will set you up on the cycle that works best for you. Bring a helmet if you have one. Registration required, sign up at the Y Welcome Desk or at the Trafton Center. Meet outside in the lower parking lot by the Mousam Trail.

Music on the Patio with Gus & Mary, noon – 1:00 p.m., Springvale Library.

Night for a Cause in support of Maine Children’s Cancer Program, 5:00 p.m., Sanford Elks Lodge, 13 Elm St. This 21+ fundraiser is open to the public, and features music by DJ Dick Fredette, raffle, pub food, live auction and more. Wizard of Oz Auditions, 6:00 and 7:00 p.m., Nasson Little Theatre, 457 Main St. NYT is off to see the Wizard! Auditions are in one hour increments, starting on the hour. If you arrive late, you will be asked to come back for the next hour. Please email nytnasson@gmail.com to receive your required audition packet. They also need stage hands, set builders and help with all aspects of production. Target ages 8-18. Show dates are December 2, 3, 9, 10 and 11.
