Monday, September 13

School Committee, 6:00 p.m., Council Chambers at City Hall and via Zoom. In-person attendees will be asked to wear masks regardless of vaccination status. The agenda includes an update on the Safe Return to School Plan, and reports from the principals of Sanford High School, Sanford Middle School and Sanford Pride Elementary School, among other items.

Tuesday, September 14

Municipal Operations and Property Subcommittee, 8:30 a.m. via Zoom. The agenda includes a discussion of the use of Council Chambers for in-person absentee voting, School Committee meetings and Candidates Night; a review of Atlantic Broadband bundling services without offering a basic stand-alone cable option; and other items.

Site Plan Review Committee, 9:00 a.m. via Zoom. The agenda includes five new items, including proposals for a solar project off Sam Allen Rd., an addition to the former Bonanza Steakhouse building by VIP Auto, an athletic facility at 414 Alfred Rd., and a three-building apartment complex at School and Bodwell Sts.

Public Safety Subcommittee, 11:00 a.m. via Zoom. The agenda includes a proposed ordinance prohibiting commercial vehicles, tractors, trailers, boats, campers/recreation vehicles, all terrain vehicles, snowmobiles, or unregistered vehicles from parking all-night on any public way; amendments to the City’s epidemic and pandemic policy; Police Deparment update; and more.

Red Cross Blood Drive, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Nasson Community Center, 457 Main St., Springvale. There were several appointments still available at press time.

Zoning Subcommittee, 1:00 p.m. via Zoom. The agenda includes a review of preliminary census data, discussion of the proposed zoning change to the former Nasson dormitories property, and discussion of the proposed moratorium on lagooning and creation of ponds by mineral extraction operations.

Solid Waste Subcommittee, 3:00 p.m. via Zoom. The agenda includes the WasteZero cost surcharge, and additional gas venting at the Rushton St. landfill.

Sanford Elks Bingo, doors open at 4:00 p.m., games start at 6:00. Sanford Elks Lodge, 13 Elm St. Must be 18 years old with valid picture ID. Face coverings required for those not vaccinated. Please stay home if you are sick.
