13th Annual Harvest Dance Thanksgiving Benefit and Food Drive, 7:00 pm, Sanford Elks Lodge, 13 Elm St. Get down to 70s and 80s tunes at this benefit for York County Shelter Programs’ Thanksgiving Basket Program. Tickets are $10 and can be bought at the door or purchased by calling YCSP staff members Scott Davis at (207) 502-0520; or Stacy Irving at (207) 651-5538 or Bonnie Leslie at (207) 324-1137, ext. 109. Bring a non-perishable item to be eligible for drawings. There will also be door prizes and 50/50 drawings. The Thanksgiving basket program, administered by York County Shelter Programs’ Food Pantry, provides community members with a basket which includes a turkey and all of the traditional Thanksgiving fixings. If you can’t attend the dance but would like to donate non-perishable food items or grocery gift cards to the basket program, contact Food Pantry Coordinator Mike Ouellette at (207) 391-3125 or mikeo@ycspi.org.
Saturday, November 5
Mingle Jingle 5K Run & Vendor Fair, Veterans Memorial Gym, 678 Main St. Come run a 5k (don’t forget your holiday costume!) and enjoy some holiday shopping. Registration 8am, race begins at 9am. Craft Fair 9am-3pm. All proceeds benefit St. Thomas School.
Annual Fall Fair, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, Crossroads United Methodist Church, 15 Grammar Rd. Featuring a Crafts table, a Jewelry table, a re-gifting table, a bake table, coffee & muffins, and this year a Silent Toy Auction (new toys).
Sam’s Book Club, 5:30 p.m., Springvale Library, 443 Main St. The novel The Stars are Fire by Anita Shreve, about the 1947 fires that swept through Maine, will be discussed.
