Monday, October 19 – School Committee – Online
The Sanford School Committee will meet via Zoom at 6:00 p.m. The agenda includes presentations by the nurses at each school; and awarding of the contract for snow plowing. The full agenda, including instructions for public access, is here.
Tuesday, October 20 – Site Plan Review Committee – Online
The Site Plan Review Committee will meet via Zoom at 9:00 a.m. The agenda includes three subdivisions, parking improvements at the Midtown Mall, and a plan for a bike/walking path at 52 Spartan Dr. This is a work session, but the public is invited to join. Tuesday, October 20 – City Council – Online
The Sanford City Council will meet via Zoom at 6:00 p.m. There is a full agenda, which includes a public hearing on a zoning change; demolition and removal of a building at 49 North Avenue; and a request by the Code Enforcement Officer for Council approval of court action against the property owners of 277 Blanchard Road, which has been the subject of numerous complaints and police calls dating back more than a year; and more. Wednesday, October 21 – Planning Board – Online

Thursday, October 22 – Lanterns of Light Workshops
Make a lantern for the JMG Middle Schoolers “Lanterns of Light” project, at Frannie’s Mini Donuts, Get Fired Up or the Goodall Library. Space is limited so advance registration is required. More info and links to register are here. The lanterns will be displayed at Number One Pond on October 30 and 31.
Friday & Saturday, October 23 & 24 – Springvale Library Fall Festival of Books & Art
The Springvale Library will hold their annual Book Sale both days from 10:00 to 3:00, with an Artisan Fair and some great live music on Saturday. There will be a Pumpkin Bird Feeder family activity too. Everything will be outdoors, safe distancing will be practiced, and face masks will be required.
Saturday, October 24 – Amvets Drive Through Community Meal – 169 School St.
Amvets Post 3 is hosting a free drive-through community meal from noon to 3:00 p.m., with spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic bread, salad, and cookies for dessert. Donation of cookies (no nuts) welcome but not required. Cash donations appreciated.
Saturday, October 24 – Piano Men: The Music of Elton and Billy
The Sanford Performing Arts Center’s “Free For All” series of free livestreamed performances kicks off with this this concert at 8:00 p.m. The show combines a four-piece pop group featuring Joe Boucher on piano and vocals, playing with a string orchestra section with arrangements by Christopher Eastburn. This is the same team that arranged and performed “Imagine: The Beatles Solo Years” for a sold-out crowd at the SPAC in November 2019.
