Planning Board Work Session, 6:30 pm, City Hall Council Chambers, 919 Main St. The agenda includes discussion and responses to industry comments on the proposed Mineral Extraction ordinance.
Tuesday, November 8
Election Day. Polls are open 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. If you have not already voted, please go to your local polling place and cast your ballot! If you are not registered, you can register right there. Red Cross Blood Drive, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, Sanford City Hall, 919 Main St.
Employment and Training Seminar, 2:00 – 4:00 pm, Sanford Community Adult Education, 668 Main St. Looking for help with employment or training? Stop by SCAE at the Willard Building, meet with representatives from Workforce Solutions and the Springvale Career Center and get started on a new path.
Bingo, Sanford Elks Lodge, 13 Elm St. Doors open at 4:00 pm and games start at 6:00. Must be 18 to play.

Thursday, November 10
The Public Works Department office will be closed.
Senior Food Mobile, 10:00 – 11:30 am, Crossroads United Methodist Church, 15 Grammar Rd. For anyone over 60 years old in need of food assistance: produce for all, commodities for those who meet income eligibility requirements.
St. Thérèse of Lisieux Food Bank Open, noon – 2:00 pm, St. Ignatius Gym, 25 Riverside Ave. No residency requirement. Contact Barbara Russell at 603-970-0306 for more information.
Friday, November 11
Veterans Day, schools and libraries will be closed. The Transfer Station/debris area will be closed. Trash and recycling will be picked up as usual.
Veterans Day Ceremonies. The Sanford Veterans’ Committee will be laying wreaths in Central Park, Soldiers and Sailors Park and the gazebo by the Springvale Walgreens starting at about 9:00 a.m. At 11:00 the Committee will host the annual Veterans Day program at Veterans Memorial Gym. The Sanford High School Band will perform. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
A Thank You To Our Veterans, 7:00 pm, Nasson Little Theatre, 457 Main St. This tribute will include music, song and poetry from past wars and from the veterans who served in them. Donations accepted. Veterans are welcome to wear their uniform or hat of service.
Saturday, November 12
9th Annual Christmas Craft & Vendor Fair, 9:00 am – 2:00 pm, Sanford Christian Academy, 47 High St. Come support local vendors while doing some of your Christmas shopping. There will be something for everyone: shopping, kids craft table, raffles, baked goods, face painting, games, music and delicious food from the café. Admission is free!
Harvest Dinner, 4:30 – 6:00 pm, Sanford First Baptist Church, 905 Main St. Roast pork, red potatoes, turnips, carrots, applesauce, rolls and dessert. $12 for adults, $6 for kids 10 and under. Eat in or take out.
Music for Cello and Piano, 7:30 pm, Sanford-Springvale Historical Museum, 505 Main St. Russian/American virtuosos Sergey Antonov and Ilya Kazantsev have performed in some of the world’s greatest concert halls including Moscow’s Rachmaninoff Hall and St. Petersburg’s Philharmonia Recital Both were child prodigies, having entered Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow before the age of 10. Their program will feature works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Olivier Messiaen and Cesar Franck. Tickets $20 for adults, under 18 admitted free. May be purchased at the door or email heastman@metrocast.net to reserve. The Museum is handicapped accessible.
Sunday, November 13
Powder Puff Football, noon, Alumni Stadium, 100 Alumni Blvd. Not only will the girls (Junior vs. Seniors) be playing football, the guys will be cheering and presenting a half time show. Tug-o-War, youth football, lunch & concession treats, Chuck-A-Duck, and fun surprises too! Proceeds benefit Project Graduation 2023.
