Municipal Operations and Property Subcommittee, 8:30 a.m. via Zoom. The agenda includes a presentation from the American Legion on proposed improvements to their facility, updates on road construction and paving projects, consideration of LED lighting and security camera upgrades for the Department of Public Works, and other items.

Solid Waste Subcommittee, 2:00 p.m. via Zoom. The agenda includes updates on the Maine DEP Solid Waste Reduction Grant Award, EcoMaine’s curbside recycling tagging program, Casella and EcoMaine’s rates and operations, and discussion of transfer station hours.

The Roots of Genocide, 5:30 p.m., Springvale Library, 443 Main St. Dr. Robert Burnheim of the University of Maine will present this program on genocide – the large-scale organized exclusion and murder of populations around the world, including in the current war on Ukraine.
Design Review Committee, 6:00 p.m. via Zoom. The agenda includes one new project, a small shed and ramp on H.A. Mapes’ property at 845 Main St. The Committee will also discuss in-person vs. zoom meetings; potential outreach/technical assistance; and compliance with DRC recommendations. They will review past projects and discuss expanding potential exemptions.

Sanford Senior Cycling, 10:00 a.m. to noon, Sanford-Springvale YMCA, 1 Emile Levasseur Dr. Northeast Passage will have a variety of cycles, trikes and adaptive bikes, plus cycling experts there to set you up for a fun ride with fellow seniors. Goodwin House Tours, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., 503 Main St. Take a tour of this beautifully restored home and barn in the heart of Springvale village. Free but donations gratefully accepted.
Goodall Library Summer Reading Program Ending Celebration, noon – 2:00 p.m., Holdsworth Park, 278 Main St. Prizes, pizza and an afternoon by the water with family. Must register to attend, call 207-324-9130.
Back(pack) to School, 2:00 – 3:00 p.m., Pleasant St. Free Baptist Church, 10 Pleasant St., Springvale. Dozens of free backpacks filled with school supplies and other items will be distributed, geared for elementary, middle school, and high school students. First come, first served. There will be ice cream for everyone who comes, and organizations will be on hand to help you learn more about helping your student and family during the coming school year.
