First day of school for grades 1-9 and SRTC.

The agenda includes an update on the Safe Return to School plan, an introduction to the new SHS School Resource Officer, and a report on fall sports from Athletic Director Gordie Salls, among other items.

Tuesday, August 31

First day of school for grades 10-12.

Site Plan Review Committee, 9 a.m. via Zoom. The agenda includes applications for three new solar developments, at 104 Hanson Ridge Rd., off Blanchard Rd., and off Sam Allen Rd., plus a subdivision at 33 Main St. and a lumber storage building on Cyro Dr.

York County Commissioners Workshop to review and discuss American Rescue Plan spending requests, 3:00 p.m., 149 Jordan Springs Rd. and via Zoom (link here). Their regular meeting will follow at 4:30 p.m.

Sanford Middle School Open House for grades 6 & 8, 6:00 p.m., 52 Spartan Dr.

Planning Board, 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. The agenda includes the solar projects and the subdivision described above under the Site Plan Review Committee meeting.

Thursday, September 2

Sanford Backpack Program Food Distribution, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Willard School, Breary Farms and Eastside Acres. Open to all Sanford/Springvale residents.

In Person: Maine mystery author Maureen Milliken, 6:00 p.m., Springvale Library, 443 Main St. Maureen is the author of the Bernie O’Dea mystery series, set in Franklin County, Maine. Copies of her book Cold Hard News are available to borrow from the Library.

Music On The Patio: Opera On Tap, noon to 1:00 p.m., Springvale Library, 443 Main St. Maine singers taking opera out of the concert hall to places you never expected, like you’ve never heard it before.
