Topics includes Intro to the Computer, Using Web-based Email, saving and organizing files, exploring the Internet and Social Media / Web Safety. Space is limited, so preregistration is appreciated. Bingo, Sanford Elks Lodge, 13 Elm St. Doors open at 4:00 p.m. and games start at 6:00. Must be 18 to play.

Wednesday, August 24

Home and Health Care Job Fair, 3:00 – 5:30 p.m., York County Career Center, 9 Bodwell Ct.

Friends of Downtown Biweekly Meeting, 4:30 p.m., Central Park, 920 Main St.

SMS Open House, 52 Spartan Dr. Grade 5 from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m., Grades 6-8 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Stuff the Bus Free Backpack Distribution, 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., driveway at Willard School, 668 Main St. While supplies last. Please bring an index card with the child’s name and grade written clearly on it. Children must be present to choose their own backpack. Station A will be grades K thru 3, Station B will be grades 4 thru 12.

Thursday, August 25

Free Community Food Distribution by the Sanford Backpack Program, 3:30 – 5:30 p.m., Willard School and Main St. entrance to Sanford High School. Produce and other items as available. Open to all.

Elementary School Open Houses, 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. at Margaret Chase Smith School, Sanford Pride Elementary and Carl J. Lamb School.

Friday, August 26

Music on the Patio with Jimmy Mac, noon – 1:00 p.m., Springvale Library, 443 Main St.

National Dog Day Celebration, noon – 4:00 p.m., Mikini, 1298 Main St. There will be food, a raffle, contests, and best of all, DOGS! Bring your canine companion and enjoy a refreshment and participate in fun contests.

We Are Spartans: SHS Marching Band Preview & Celebration, 7:00 p.m., Cobb Stadium, 678 Main St. The Sanford High School Marching Band invites friends, family, and alumni to Cobb Stadium for a preview of their 2022 production, “We Are Spartans.” Join them for music, celebration, and food at Cobb Stadium (behind Sanford Pride Elementary School).

Goodwin House Open for Tours, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., 503 Main St. Visit this historic architectural gem in the heart of Springvale village.

Baby Blessings, 10:00 a.m. – noon, St. George’s Episcopal Church, 3 Emerson St.

Bus Trip to Boston Red Sox Game with Sanford Recreation, leaves from SMS at 12:30 p.m. for 4:10 p.m. game. $100 includes bus and ticket. See the Sox beat the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Plenty of seats still available, register here.

Casting With Cops, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Number One Pond near the dock. The Sanford Police Department invite children under 16 to join Officer Raymond and other Sanford officers for two hours of fishing fun. Rather than book ’em, they’ll hook ’em! Worms and bottled water to stay hydrated will be provided, and they will have a few extra poles for those who don’t have one. They ask children 12 and under to be accompanied by an adult. Whoever reels in the biggest fish will leave with a new fishing pole. Come join them for a couple hours of fun, and a chance to fish with Sanford’s finest anglers.
