City Council, 6:00 p.m., City Hall Council Chambers, 919 Main St. The agenda includes a public hearing on whether to put a $1 million bond to demolish the International Woolen Mill boiler house to referendum vote in November; a public hearing on the proposed Midtown Mall Maintenance Assessment; presentation and discussion on amending the command structure of the Police Department; further discussion of proposed Charter amendments; discussion on changing the open hours of City Hall from five days a week to four; and other items.

Wednesday, August 3

York County Commissioners, 4:30 p.m., York County Government Building, 149 Jordan Springs Rd., Alfred. The agenda includes recognition of State Rep. Matt Harrington and EMA Mitigation and Finance Manager Laurie Ewing; discussion of Pre-Trial services and consideration of contract; review and discussion of law enforcement services with the town of Parsonsfield; review and discussion of the engineering and architectural contracts for the proposed new Regional Training and Recovery facilities; and other items.

Planning Board Work Session, 6:30 p.m., City Hall Council Chambers, 919 Main St. The agenda includes review and discussion of the proposed new Zoning Amendment related to Mineral Extraction.

Thursday, August 4

Turtle Time with Raspberry, 11:00 a.m., Goodall Library, 952 Main St. In this program by the Seacoast Science Center, meet Raspberry, a three-toed box turtle, and learn all about turtles. Space is limited, sign up required. Call 207-324-4714.

Staffing Agency Job Fair, 2:00 – 3:30 p.m., York County Career Center, 9 Bodwell Ct. Meet with a recruiter and find the right fit for you.

Free Community Food Distribution by the Sanford Backpack Program, 3:30 – 5:30 p.m., Willard School and Main St. entrance to Sanford High School. Produce and other items as available. Open to all.

Sanford Christian Academy Open House, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., 47 High St. Prospective students, new students, and returning students can check out the new classrooms, talk to new teachers, and begin anticipating everything that the year will have to offer! A uniform swap will also be available for all students who need new sizes.
