Monday, April 11

Plants Plus Early Spring Plant Sale through April 15, 8:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Sanford Regional Technical Center, 100 Alumni Blvd. Pansies, house plants, succulents, herbs, cold hardy sweet peas, kale, onions. Open until 2 on Tuesday and Thursday. Prices- Pansies : 4 packs -$4 / 8 packs-$8 /bowls- $15. Vegetable + herb 6 packs $2. Other plants prices vary.

Charter Review Committee, 10:15 a.m., City Hall Council Chambers and via Zoom. The agenda includes continued review of Articles VI and VII of the City Charter, and possibly other articles, time permitting.

Tuesday, April 12

Municipal Operations and Property Subcommittee, 8:30 a.m. via Zoom. The agenda includes discussion of Rail Trail policy, the proposed maintenance assessment district at the Midtown Mall, and other items.

Red Cross Blood Drive, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., City Hall, 919 Main St.

Public Safety Subcommittee, 11:00 a.m. via Zoom. The agenda includes review of a proposed Parking Ticket ordinance, and Police Department updates.

Solid Waste Subcommittee, 1:00 p.m. via Zoom. The agenda includes discussion of items related to the PAYT program.

Bingo, Sanford Elks Lodge, 13 Elm St. Doors open at 4:00 p.m. and games begin at 6:00. Must be 18 to play.

Matthew Meal to Go, 5:30-6:30 p.m., St. Ignatius Gym, 25 Riverside Ave. Pasta dinner with meat or meatless sauce, salad, bread, cookies and bottle of water. Free for all.

Wednesday, April 13

Land Bank Authority, 8:45 a.m. via Zoom. The agenda includes discussion of Land Bank properties/process, and property maintenance and housing concerns.

Fire Station Feasibility Working Group, 11:00 a.m. via Zoom. The agenda includes an update on the informational campaign.

Design Review Committee, 6:00 p.m. via Zoom. The agenda is not available at press time, but is expected to include discussion of 997 Main St. and other items.

Thursday, April 14

Hospitality and Seasonal Virtual Hiring Event, 10:00 a.m. to noon. This event is to support hiring for the hospitality industry and seasonal jobs such as landscaping and lifeguarding, with a special focus on student employees. Employers  will have 5 – 7 minutes to present their open positions, compensation, work environment, and contact information. Advance registration for job seekers is here. Sponsored by the York County Career Center and Sanford Springvale Chamber of Commerce.

Friday, April 15

“At the Carnival” Sanford Christian Academy Auction Night, 47 High St. Dinner at 5:00 p.m., concert at 6:00, with auction beginning during intermission.

The Nite Show with Danny Cashman, Sanford Performing Arts Center, 100 Alumni Blvd. Taping begins promptly at 6:00 p.m. but ticket holders are asked to arrive no later than 5:45 p.m. as late seating will not be permitted. See this story for all the details. Tickets are free, reserve them here.

Saturday, April 16

Buy Girl Scout Cookies, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the following locations:

  • Central Park, 920 Main St.
  • Springvale Gazebo in front of Walgreens / BMV, 456 Main St.

Rolling Thunder Dinner, 4:30 – 6:00 p.m., Sanford-Springvale VFW Post #9935, 1 Hutchinson St. Eat in or take out, chicken or bean dinner, $10 per meal, includes all the fixings including cookies and bottle of water.

Crown Jewels Drag Night, 8:00 p.m., Nasson Little Theatre, 457 Main St. $15 cover charge, cash bar and light concessions. Featuring drag and burlesque stars from around New England. Purchase advance tickets here.
