Sanford High School Theater Company will present the classic musical “Guys and Dolls” at Sanford Performing Arts Center on March 29 and 30. This highly anticipated production spotlights the talents of over 40 SHS student cast and crew members, and is packed with spectacular singing and dancing, vibrant costumes, a live band, and mesmerizing scenery.
“Guys and Dolls” sits at the very top of Entertainment Weekly’s list of all-time greatest musicals. Set in 1950s New York City, the story follows the escapades of high-rolling gambler Sky Masterson and earnest missionary Sarah Brown. As their worlds collide, love blossoms against a backdrop of colorful characters and lively dance numbers. Frank Loesser’s score includes showstoppers such as “Luck Be a Lady,” and “Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat.”
“Our students have poured their hearts and souls into bringing ‘Guys and Dolls’ to life,” said Brett Williams, artistic director of the production. “Their dedication and passion shine through in every aspect of this show, and we can’t wait to share it with the community.”
“Guys and Dolls” will grace the SPAC stage for three performances: Friday, March 29, at 6:30 pm, Saturday, March 30, at 1 pm, and Saturday, March 30, at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $12 for adults, $9 for seniors, and $7 for students. Visit http://sanfordpac.org for 24/7 online ticketing. The SPAC box office is open for in-person sales Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 am to noon, as well as one hour before each performance.
