Childersburg AL. – Dorothy (Fortier) Gallant, age 86, died on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Coosa Valley Healthcare Center.
Mrs. Gallant was born in Sanford, Maine on July 29, 1935 daughter of George and Beatrice (Becotte) Fortier. She was a resident of Maine until 1992.
She graduated from St. Ignatius High School, Class of 1953. She was a communicant of St. Jude Catholic Church in Sylacauga, AL.
She was employed for many years in various offices in the town of Sanford, retiring in 1992 from the Treasurer’s Office when she and her husband moved to Port Charlotte, FL. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles E. Gallant Jr. in October of 1999. She moved to Alabama in 2005 to be near her daughter and granddaughter and had been planning to move home to Maine earlier this year until her illness put that on hold.
Surviving are her daughter, Cindy A. Dinsmore of Sylacauga; her granddaughter Samantha N. Trivett (Mark) of Ft. Worth, TX.; great grandchildren, Izabella, Charles, Willow and Malaki Trivett; grandson, Daniel K. Dinsmore Jr. (Paula); great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Kyle, Karter, Kolton and Kannon Dinsmore.
Memorial service will be held at a later date in November. Internment will take place at a later date in St. Ignatius Cemetery, Sanford, Maine.
No flowers please. Donations can be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
